Google replaces Gemini's Gems with Skills, run by typing a slash

TL;DR

• On 30 September Google introduced Skills in Gemini: "save your most-used instructions once and run them endlessly", by typing "/" and the skill's name.
• A skill can carry plain text, PDFs or images as reference files. Sharing, Google Drive files and Gemini Notebook notebooks come in the coming weeks, Google says.
• Gems go away in November 2026 for personal accounts, March 2027 for Workspace business, enterprise and nonprofit customers and June 2027 for education, and Google migrates them to skills.
